Typically hydraulic methods are used to apply force or weight loading on a sample of material such as concrete or soil. When carrying out destructive testing high level pressure spikes are generated when samples start to weaken in reaction to the stresses being applied. It is important that the pressure sensor measuring the hydraulic pressure can tolerate this sudden change in pressure over many cycles without degradation of performance.
The TPS & TPSA precision pressure sensors have a durable mechanical design and are used for high pressure material testing applications such as concrete or soil compression testing.
Both the TPS strain gauge pressure sensor and the TPSA pressure transmitter incorporate the same robust pressure sensor technology which includes a relatively thick 17-4ph stainless steel sensing diaphragm which is machined out of one piece of metal and high precision foil strain gauges which are precisely bonded to the reverse side to form a four arm wheatstone bridge circuit. The sensing element is mechanically designed in such a way to isolate it from mechanical stresses induced from tightening the pressure sensor during installation.
The pressure ranges which run between 10 and 1000 bar can be over-pressured by up to two times their range without compromising specification tolerances.
The TPS precision pressure transducer has a mV signal output to provide a high dynamic signal response with passive circuitry.
The TPSA is available as an amplified voltage pressure transducer or a current output pressure transmitter providing a high level 5V, 10V or 4-20mA signal output with an enhanced accuracy of 0.1% full scale.
A wide choice of pressure connections and electrical connections are available which make it possible to specify preferences for most installations.
