Select a pressure measurement instrument by pressure connector type to eliminate the need for pressure fitting adapters and reducers. Each mechanical connection type is distinguished by the size, type and sealing style of thread.
Specify your pressure connection type and other instrument requirements
DIN3852 style 1/4 inch british standard pipe parallel threaded (G 1/4) pressure sensors, gauges and indicators for use with bonded seals or Dowty seals.
DIN16288 (EN837) style 1/4 inch british standard pipe thread (G 1/4) pressure transducers, gages and manometers which have a small diameter stub protruding from the very end of the male thread which is used to seat an O ring for sealing around a small hole located at the bottom of the female thread of the mating part. This type of seal is very commonly found on analog dial pressure gauges and is often referred to as a gauge fitting.
Female threaded pressure sensing devices for screwing onto male 1/4 inch british standard pipe threaded pipe connectors. A G1/4 female is also a convenient universal thread for adapting to any female thread via a male to male adaptor.
Pressure sensors and gauges with a male 1/2 British Standard Pipe parallel threaded fitting option to DIN 3852 for sealing with a bonded seal. Some sensors include a captive O ring seal negating the need for a separate bonded seal. Unlike other threads bonded seals require minimal torque to provide a pressure tight seal and are useful for installations which require a tight tolerance on installed depth. The male thread should be shorter than the female thread it is being fitted, to ensure that the sealing faces are not prevented from coming together.
Pressure gauges, transducers and transmitters with a 1/2 inch test gauge fitting to DIN16288 (EN837). This type of pressure connection is often found on clock dial pressure gauges enabling the gauge to be rotated into position for convenient reading via a female swivel joint connection. The male thread must be longer than the female thread it is being installed into to ensure the internal sealing faces mate.
Choose a pressure sensor with a male 1/8 inch British Standard Pipe thread for sealing with a dowty or bonded sealing washer.
Pressure sensing instrumentation with a 1/4 inch National Pipe Thread tapered thread. NPT tapered threads seal on the thread as the male and female thread are tightened together. In order to ensure a leak free connection it is necessary to apply thread sealing tape or compound prior to screwing NPT threads together.
Pressure sensors and manometers with a 1/4inch female taper National Pipe Thread fitting. A suitable thread sealing tape or compound should be applied to the male thread prior to screwing the two threads together.
Pressure sensing instrumentation with 1/2NPT male tapered thread. 1/2inch NPT is National Pipe Thread which is an American standard for pipe fittings and is commonly used in industrial and process applications throughout the USA.
Pressure transducers with a small size 1/8inch NPT male thread. Not as common as other sized NPT threads the 1/8NPT male is normally only fitted to pressure transducers which are too small to accommodate a larger tapered thread.
Pressure sensors with a miniature size 1/8inch National Pipe Thread for mounting onto a male 1/8NPT spigot or adapter. Female threads are very convenient for adapting to a range of male threads via male to male adapters which tend to be more widely available than female to female adapters.
Open face membrane pressure sensing devices with a 1/2BSP or G1/2 male parallel thread pressure connection. The sealing arrangement is typically performed by compressing a bonded or captive seal between the sensor hex-nut and the surface of the mating manifold or boss.
Open face diaphragm pressure measurement instrument with a 1 inch British Standard Pipe (BSP) or G 1 inch parallel thread pressure connector. Larger diameter pressure connectors are necessary for lower range pressures to facilitate the need for a larger diameter and more sensitive sensing diaphragm.
Exposed membrane 1 1/2 BSP or G11/2 parallel male thread pressure transmitter. Exposed diaphragm sensors are useful for measuring viscous fluids or media that are processed in a clean environment where the surfaces in contact with the media should be flat and smooth for easy cleaning and prevention of bacteria build-up.
Pressure sensors with a pressure connector that is 7/16th -20 UNF Unified Fine Thread (SAE 4 Standard American Engineers). UNF is a USA standard often used in the automotive or aerospace industry. 7/16th refers to the diameter of the thread and the 20 refers to the number of required turns per inch or TPI.
Pressure transducers and transmitters with 7/16th - 20 UNF Unified Fine Thread (SAE 4 Standard American Engineers). UNF and SAE an older version of the same thread originated in America and are used mostly in the Automobile and Aircraft industry.
Pressure sensors with an M 12 parallel metric screw thread to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) specification. Metric threads are defined by prefixing with the letter M follow by the outside diameter in millimetres and then the thread pitch in millimetres e.g. M12 x 1.5
Pressure transducers and transmitters with a metric M 14 straight screw thread to the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) requirements. ISO metric threads are denoted by placing the character M at the beginning followed by the thread outside diameter and then the pitch of the screw thread e.g. M14x1.5
Pressure sensors for hygienic or sanitary use with DN1 or DN1 1/2 size clamp pressure fittings that conform to the ISO engineering standard. The style of pressure connection is often used with flush diaphragm pressure transmitters to provide a crevice freee interface which is ideal for biotechnology, pharmaceutical or food processes.
Hygienic pressure transmitters with pressure sealing to the Dairy Pipe standard. Available for different size pipes DN 25, DN 40 and DN 50
High range pressure transmitters and transducers with Autoclave Engineers compatible fitting. Autoclave Engineers pressure fittings are typically used in very high hydraulic pressure applications.
