DIN3852 style 1/4 inch british standard pipe parallel threaded (G 1/4) pressure sensors, gauges and indicators for use with bonded seals or Dowty seals.
A pressure tight seal is achieved via the knife edge profiled elastomer insert which is affixed to the inside diameter of the of the metal washer portion of the bonded seal. A sufficiently flat surface at the sensor end of the thread is required to allow for some tolerance in the positioning of the bonded seal.
The component that the pressure sensor is being screwed into should also have sufficient flat surface around the female thread to make a good seal. Very little torque is required to seal this type of pressure connection and in many applications hand-tight is sufficient. Some versions of DIN3852 style thread include a seat for inserting an elastomer seal so that a separate bonded or dowty seal is not necessary.
